Verticale tuinen in Mexico City

Dit vind ik geweldig! In Reginastraat in het historische centrum van Mexico City is aan de wanden van de Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana een verticale tuin gemaakt. De groene wand werd ontworpen door Fernando Ortiz Monasterio. Dit initiatief is bedoeld om bij te dragen aan de zuurstofproductie in Mexico City.

'We wanted to make something that would cause people to turn around, something that would not be overlooked, and in this way to create consciousness,' explains Mexican architect Fernando Ortiz Monasterio, the designer of seven living, breathing sculptures that have recently sprouted at some of capital's busier intersections. Ook bij het  restaurant Padrinos is een verticale groene wand gemaakt. Het bijzondere van beide projecten vind ik de plaatsing van de fietsen op de muur. Een extra suggestie voor een meer duurzamer leven?
